Bamboo Tencel Hemp 130 GSM
153 CM
90% TENCEL / 10% HEMP
Item 6059 is a woven tencel-led hemp blend — 90% tencel / 10% hemp — in a plain weave carrying a subtle slub texture, finished at 130 GSM and 153 cm wide in solid dyed shades. The tencel is the comfort majority: it brings the silky hand, fluid drape and moisture management of a regenerated cellulose. The hemp adds a natural, breathable grain and a cool, crisp touch.
The two fibres work in balance. Tencel absorbs roughly 50% more moisture than cotton and reads cool against the skin, while linen gives the cloth its natural grain and drape-memory — the reason this blend is specified for garments that need to look relaxed yet considered through a full day of wear. The washed finish is deliberate: it softens the hand and settles the surface into a natural, lived-in texture from the first wear.

Five properties decide how this cloth behaves in wear, and because it is a two-fibre blend, each one is the result of tencel and linen working together. The slub texture is the point of difference from a plain cloth — tencel brings comfort and drape, while linen adds the natural grain and breathability.
Where this weight sits. At 130 GSM the cloth is substantial enough to hold a clean line in a trouser or a relaxed suit, yet light enough to drape a dress or a shirt — the natural choice for shirts, dresses, trousers and relaxed suits. The honest trade-off is that linen, while it delivers breathability and natural texture, means the cloth will crease more readily than a synthetic blend of the same weight — a trade-off that is part of its relaxed, natural character.
This is 90% tencel and 10% hemp, and each fibre earns its place. The tencel is the comfort majority — soft from the first wear and absorbent, keeping the cloth cool against the skin. The hemp adds a natural, breathable grain and a cool, crisp touch that lifts the drape. The result is a fabric that wears like a natural fibre and reads as considered.
Tencel has a moisture regain well above cotton — roughly 50% more absorbency — and pulls perspiration into the fibre core before releasing it. Against the skin the cloth reads cool and dry, and the hemp does not fight that: its open, breathable structure lets the air move, so the fabric manages moisture from both directions.
The hemp is what gives the surface its character. Hemp brings a natural, slightly textured grain and a cool, crisp touch that a pure tencel cloth cannot produce, so the fabric reads as natural and considered rather than smooth and synthetic. The slub texture softens the surface further, settling it into a relaxed, understated look.
The ice-cool finish softens the hand and relaxes the drape so the cloth falls with an easy, fluid line. A blouse or dress made from it hangs rather than clings, and the natural grain gives it a dry, fresh surface. It looks better after a few wears, not worse — the cool hand is built in.
Two limits are worth stating plainly. First, this is a blend, so it cannot be sold as a pure hemp or a pure tencel — it is a natural-hand cloth with a slub texture, not a single-fibre fabric. Second, the natural-fibre content means the cloth creases more readily than a synthetic blend, though the creases are part of its relaxed character. Cold gentle wash and a cool iron on the reverse keeps it looking its best.
At 130 GSM and 153 cm this is a light, fluid weight, and the fluidity is where the cloth shines as a dress and blouse fabric. The tencel drape carries dresses and shirts, while the hemp grain and the slub texture give a cool, fresh character.
This is the core use. The soft tencel hand means no prickle against the skin, and the washed texture gives the surface a dry, natural grain. A bias-cut dress or a relaxed shirt made from it hangs rather than clings, and the natural drape means it looks considered through a full day rather than sagging by evening.
Off the body the same construction works as a blouse, a dress or a light skirt. At 130 GSM the cloth stays light and fluid, while the hemp grain and the slub texture mean it creases gently and relaxes on its own. It works across warm weather and into the transitional season.
The color range runs from naturals and whites through pastels, mid tones and deeper shades, held for immediate dispatch. Custom solid dyeing to Pantone TCX is available for development orders, and because the cloth is tencel-led it takes dye cleanly and evenly — one of the reasons this construction is used for color-critical work.
Hand samples and cutting samples are supplied before bulk production, either from stock greige or from a lab dip matched to your shade. For this construction we recommend sampling the finished cloth rather than the yarn alone: at 90% tencel / 10% hemp the hand, the drape and the way the surface takes light are all decided by the fibre and its finishing, and the washed finish adds a softness that cannot be judged from a fibre sample.
Development runs around three points: the shade matched to Pantone TCX, the weight confirmed against the end use, and the wash route confirmed with the mill. A relaxed ice-cool gives a natural texture and softer hand, and we test shrinkage and crease behaviour on a washed sample before bulk is scheduled. Full-width greige and finished samples, small trial orders and custom development are supported for new customers.
