Sunshine Satin Stretch Satin Fabric
150 CM
DOUBLE-FACED DRAPE SATIN WEAVE
96% POLYESTER 4% SPANDEX
This woven sunshine satin stretch satin fabric is 96% polyester 4% spandex in an stretch satin double-faced satin construction. The dense, dry matte surface has a soft, smooth hand with a low-shine finish that stays cool and comfortable against the skin, and a fluid drape that moves without clinging
At 153 GSM this sits in the light-to-midweight range — light on the body with an easy, flowing drape and confident opacity, while the matte finish keeps it looking calm rather than shiny. It is a go-to fabric for modest fashion and dressmaking: flowing maxi dresses, abayas and kaftans, plus headscarves, hijabs, shawls and evening gowns — styles in steady demand across the Middle East, North Africa and Europe & America. The 150 cm width allows efficient marker making for long dress panels and generous scarf blanks alike Available in 90 in-stock dyed colors, with custom solid dyeing or printing in our 55-color morandi tone library or your own Pantone references.

Craft Differentiation: A Cationic Stretch Satin Is Not a Plain Polyester SatinBLEND-MATCHED DYEING · STRETCH-SAFE FINISHING
Why a cationic warp blended with a spandex weft needs its own dyeing route to hold the soft skin-facing hand.
Two light satins can look almost identical on the hanger and behave very differently in the hand. Both may have a smooth surface and a fluid fall. The difference lies in the yarn package, the elastane content and how the dyeing route was developed for the cloth. At 153 GSM this is a light, drapey satin with 4% spandex in the weft. The elastane is what makes a shawl or a nightdress feel comfortable rather than stiff, but it also changes how the fabric must be dyed and heat-set. A fabric that drapes well in the sample can still crease, or lose its elasticity, if the finishing route was not balanced for an elastane blend. At Shaoxing Henghui Textile Co., Ltd., we develop Sunshine Satin around three points: a balanced warp and weft package, a stretch-finish route that protects the elastane and a hand-finish that keeps the surface soft against skin. 1. Why Two Light Satin Fabrics Behave DifferentlyLight satins with elastane are sensitive to how they are processed. At sample stage two fabrics may feel nearly identical, yet differences become clear during bulk cutting and garment making. Potential problems include:
For garment manufacturers these problems affect more than appearance. They increase inspection requirements, complicate cutting and create additional production cost. This is why quality should be judged not only by the hand at sample stage, but also by whether the finishing route was developed for a light stretch satin. 2. Yarn Package and the Role of the ElastaneThe specification pairs a 100D/48F cationic FDY warp with a 100D/72F semi-dull FDY weft carrying 40D spandex. Holding that balance is what gives the cloth both its soft lustre and its recovery. Soft Skin-Facing Surface
A light satin at 153 GSM sits against the skin without the cool slickness of a heavier satin, which is why it suits shawls, scarves and sleepwear.
Gentle Comfortable Stretch
The 4% spandex gives enough give for movement and recovery, so a scarf or dress does not feel restricted after hours of wear.
Fluid Fall at Low Weight
Light construction lets the fabric cascade rather than stand, which is the character wanted for occasion and modest-fashion pieces.
Both Faces Usable
The construction presents an even surface on both sides, so one cloth works as outer face and as lining.
3. Dyeing: A Cationic Route, Not a Plain Disperse RouteThis is the technical point that separates Sunshine Satin from a plain polyester satin of the same weight. Because the warp contains cationic yarn alongside the polyester and spandex weft, the dye route has to be developed for a blend rather than copied from a standard polyester process. How the Process Works
Step 1 — Blend-matched dye recipe. The recipe is adjusted for the cationic warp and the polyester plus spandex weft so the shade builds evenly across all three yarn types instead of the cationic areas reading darker.
Step 2 — Low-tension handling. A light stretch satin is easily pulled out of shape, so the cloth is run under controlled tension to keep the width stable and prevent spiralling at the cutting table.
Step 3 — Reduction and finishing. Surface color is cleared gently and the finish is kept light, protecting the elastane so the stretch and the soft hand both survive.
Why This Matters If a supplier runs a standard polyester route on a cationic blend, the shade develops unevenly and the hand can come out stiff or rubbery. Because the surface is soft and skin-facing, such faults are noticed immediately during wear rather than only under an inspection lamp. Detecting them at the dyeing stage is far cheaper than a batch rejection downstream. 4. Stretch Finishing and Hand FeelThe silk-like hand of this fabric is created in finishing, not in the yarn. Heat setting is kept moderate so the elastane stays responsive instead of being locked into a stiff shape. Elastic Recovery Retained. The setting temperature is balanced against the elastane so the fabric returns to shape after wear. Soft, Non-Stiff Surface. Over-setting is avoided, so the cloth keeps the soft skin-friendly feel instead of turning board-like. Stable Width for Cutting. A light stretch satin can shift easily; the finish is set so the cloth stays flat for accurate marker placement. Color Fastness Color fastness is an important consideration for a fabric that is often washed at home or worn in warm weather. The actual grade should be confirmed through testing under the applicable standard and test conditions. Where supported by laboratory results, a grade of 4 or above can be specified in the product documentation. For bulk orders, we recommend confirming the required color fastness, shade tolerance, shrinkage expectation and width tolerance before production. Lab dip approval is carried out before bulk production. 5. Why Fabric Quality Matters to Garment ManufacturersSunshine Satin is frequently bought on drape and price. But a light stretch satin is unforgiving: small finishing faults show on the skin-facing surface and in the wear test. Potential consequences include:
At Henghui Textile, we believe reliable fabric quality begins with the making process, not with the final inspection alone. Our approach emphasises a balanced yarn package, a blend-matched dyeing route and a stretch-safe finishing process, communicated clearly with customers about the requirements of their intended applications. 6. Applications of Sunshine SatinWith a soft skin-facing surface, a fluid fall and gentle stretch, this fabric can be considered for a range of light apparel and accessory applications, depending on its actual composition, weight and finish. Potential applications include:
For buyers developing a new collection, the final suitability should be evaluated against the garment design, required drape, opacity, comfort and care instructions. Our team can work with buyers to confirm the relevant specifications and finishing requirements before bulk production. 7. Quality Begins with Process ControlAt Shaoxing Henghui Textile Co., Ltd., we understand that the difference between an acceptable light satin and a reliable production satin often lies in details that are not immediately visible. Yarn package, warp tension, dye recipe, setting temperature and handling all contribute to the final result. We do not run the same route on every fabric. A cationic-blend stretch satin, a double-face polyester satin and a heavy stretch suiting are three different constructions and require three different dyeing logics; treating them the same is what causes the failures described above.
