Waltz Satin Two-Way Stretch Satin Fabric
150 CM
DOUBLE-FACED DRAPE SATIN WEAVE
96% POLYESTER 4% SPANDEX
This woven waltz satin two-way stretch satin fabric is 96% polyester 4% spandex in an two-way stretch double-faced satin construction. The dense, dry matte surface has a soft, smooth hand with a low-shine finish that stays cool and comfortable against the skin, and a fluid drape that moves without clinging
At 180 GSM this sits in the light-to-midweight range — light on the body with an easy, flowing drape and confident opacity, while the matte finish keeps it looking calm rather than shiny. It is a go-to fabric for modest fashion and dressmaking: flowing maxi dresses, abayas and kaftans, plus headscarves, hijabs, shawls and evening gowns — styles in steady demand across the Middle East, North Africa and Europe & America. The 150 cm width allows efficient marker making for long dress panels and generous scarf blanks alike Available in 84 in-stock dyed colors, with custom solid dyeing or printing in our 55-color morandi tone library or your own Pantone references.

Craft Differentiation: Where the Elastane Sits Changes EverythingTWO-WAY ELASTANE PACKAGE · BLEND-MATCHED DYEING
Why an elastane satin that works in both warp and weft needs a different setting route from one that stretches across the width only.
Two stretch satins can look similar in the hand and still perform differently once they are cut and sewn. The distinction that matters here is not the shine but where the elastane sits in the yarn package. At 180 GSM this fabric carries more body than a light stretch satin, which is what gives it the soft sculpted fall wanted for robes, abayas and occasion dresses. The 4% spandex is present in both the warp and the weft, and that two-way arrangement is the reason the fabric recovers along the length as well as across it. At Shaoxing Henghui Textile Co., Ltd., we develop Waltz Satin around three points: a two-way elastane yarn package, a blend-matched dyeing route and a controlled set that protects recovery on both axes. 1. Why Two Stretch Satins Behave DifferentlyElastane satins are judged on how they behave over time, not on how they look off the roll. Two fabrics may feel almost identical at sampling and then separate in wear. Potential problems include:
For garment manufacturers these problems affect more than appearance. They increase inspection requirements, complicate cutting and create additional production cost. This is why quality should be judged not only by the hand at sample stage, but also by where the elastane is placed and how the finishing route treats it. 2. The Two-Way Elastane PackageThe specification pairs a 100D cationic warp carrying 40D spandex with a 100D semi-dull FDY weft also carrying 40D spandex. Because the elastane works in both directions, the cloth recovers as a panel rather than only across its width, which is what a robe or wrap dress needs. Two-Way Recovery
Elastane in warp and weft means the fabric returns to shape along the length as well as across the width, so panels do not grow out of proportion.
Soft Sculpted Fall
At 180 GSM the cloth holds enough body to drape in a soft cascade, which suits robes, abayas and occasion silhouettes.
Smooth Skin-Facing Face
The surface is soft and low-lustre, comfortable against the skin for abayas, wraps and sleepwear.
Clean Cut and Sew
An even construction gives stable edges, so seams sit straight and the cloth is easier to lay and cut.
3. Dyeing: A Blend Route Across Three Yarn TypesThe cloth contains cationic yarn, standard polyester and spandex. Each takes dye differently, so the recipe has to be developed for the blend rather than copied from a single-fibre polyester process. How the Process Works
Step 1 — Blend-matched dye recipe. The curve is adjusted so the shade builds evenly across the cationic warp, the polyester weft and the elastane, avoiding a visible difference between warp-faced and weft-faced areas.
Step 2 — Controlled tension through dyeing. The cloth is run under low tension so the two-way stretch does not pull the width out of shape and cause spiralling at cutting.
Step 3 — Gentle reduction and rinse. Surface color is cleared without disturbing the elastane, so the hand stays soft and the recovery is not dulled.
Why This Matters A shade difference across the two faces is visible on a robe the moment it is worn, and it cannot be hidden by a lining. Detecting it at the dyeing stage is far cheaper than a batch rejection after cutting. For the same reason, tension control during dyeing decides whether the fabric lies flat on the cutting table or shifts and wastes cloth. 4. Setting and Finishing for Two-Way RecoveryThe hand and the recovery of this fabric are set in finishing. Because the elastane is present on both axes, the setting conditions have to be balanced so neither direction is over-locked. Recovery Kept on Both Axes. Setting is balanced against the elastane so the fabric returns to shape lengthwise and widthwise after wear. Soft, Low-Lustre Surface. A restrained finishing route preserves the soft skin-facing feel instead of a high-gloss film. Stable Dimensions for Cutting. Finished width and length are controlled so marker placement stays accurate and lay-up waste is reduced. Color Fastness Color fastness is an important consideration for a fabric often worn against the skin and washed at home. The actual grade should be confirmed through testing under the applicable standard and test conditions. Where supported by laboratory results, a grade of 4 or above can be specified in the product documentation. For bulk orders, we recommend confirming the required color fastness, shade tolerance, shrinkage expectation and width tolerance before production. Lab dip approval is carried out before bulk production. 5. Why Fabric Quality Matters to Garment ManufacturersStretch satins are commonly bought on appearance and weight. But when the elastane placement or the setting route is not controlled, the cost appears later in cutting and in wear. Potential consequences include:
At Henghui Textile, we believe reliable fabric quality begins with the making process, not with the final inspection alone. Our approach emphasises a balanced yarn package, a blend-matched dyeing route and a set that protects recovery on both directions, communicated clearly with customers about the requirements of their intended applications. 6. Applications of Waltz SatinWith a soft skin-facing surface, a sculpted fall at 180 GSM and two-way stretch, this fabric can be considered for a range of occasion and modest-fashion applications, depending on its actual composition and finish. Potential applications include:
For buyers developing a new collection, the final suitability should be evaluated against the garment design, required drape, opacity, comfort and care instructions. Our team can work with buyers to confirm the relevant specifications and finishing requirements before bulk production. 7. Quality Begins with Process ControlAt Shaoxing Henghui Textile Co., Ltd., we understand that the difference between an acceptable stretch satin and a reliable production satin often lies in details that are not immediately visible. Yarn placement, warp tension, dye recipe, setting temperature and handling all contribute to the final result. We do not run the same route on every fabric. A two-way elastane satin at 180 GSM, a lighter weft-elastane satin and a heavy stretch suiting are different constructions and need different setting logic; treating them the same is what causes the recovery and hand problems described above.
