Acetate-look Crepe Fabric
150 CM
DOUBLE-FACED DRAPE SATIN WEAVE
100% POLYESTER
This woven imitation acetate crepe fabric is 100% polyester in an crepe double-faced satin construction. The dense, dry matte surface has a soft, smooth hand with a low-shine finish that stays cool and comfortable against the skin, and a fluid drape that moves without clinging
At 118 GSM this sits in the light-to-midweight range — light on the body with an easy, flowing drape and confident opacity, while the matte finish keeps it looking calm rather than shiny. It is a go-to fabric for modest fashion and dressmaking: flowing maxi dresses, abayas and kaftans, plus headscarves, hijabs, shawls and evening gowns — styles in steady demand across the Middle East, North Africa and Europe & America. The 150 cm width allows efficient marker making for long dress panels and generous scarf blanks alike Available in 53 in-stock dyed colors, with custom solid dyeing or printing in our 55-color morandi tone library or your own Pantone references.

Craft Differentiation: In a Crepe the Yarn Is the FeatureHIGH-TWIST YARN · MATTE TEXTURE-PRESERVING FINISH
Why a crepe built from high-twist yarn cannot be finished like a satin of the same weight without losing its surface.
Two fabrics can carry the same weight and the same price and still behave completely differently once they are sewn. The difference that matters here is not the shine. It is whether the character comes from the weave or from the yarn. At 118 GSM this is an all-polyester crepe. Unlike a satin, whose surface is created by the weave structure, a crepe gets its pebbled, matte texture from the yarn itself: a high-twist filament that shrinks unevenly after weaving, leaving the surface gently crinkled. That is why a crepe looks soft and matte rather than smooth and reflective, and why it behaves differently through washing. At Shaoxing Henghui Textile Co., Ltd., we develop Acetate-look Crepe around three points: a controlled twist yarn package, a balanced warp-and-weft shrink allowance and a light finishing route that protects the crepe surface. 1. Why Two Lightweight Polyesters Feel DifferentAt a light weight the surface of the cloth is fully visible, so finishing faults cannot be hidden. Two fabrics may feel similar at sampling and then separate in wear. Potential problems include:
For garment manufacturers these problems affect more than appearance. They increase inspection requirements, complicate cutting and create additional production cost. This is why quality should be judged not only by the hand at sample stage, but also by whether the yarn and finishing routes were developed for a crepe rather than copied from a satin. 2. The Yarn Is the FeatureBecause the texture is created by the yarn, the 100% polyester construction is built around twist and shrinkage rather than around pick density. Holding the twist and the shrink allowance consistent is what gives the surface its even, natural character. Matte, Diffuse Surface
A crepe scatters light rather than reflecting it, which gives a soft appearance instead of the sheen buyers associate with a satin.
Natural Peebled Texture
The uneven shrink of a high-twist yarn leaves the fine crinkle that reads as an acetate-like handle rather than a printed imitation.
Breathable at Light Weight
At 118 GSM the cloth sits close to the body without weight, which suits shirts, pleated dresses and summer skirts.
Holds Pleats and Volume
The textured surface grips the air, so pleats and gathered panels keep their shape instead of collapsing flat.
3. Dyeing: A High-Temperature Route with a Matte TargetThe cloth is all polyester, so the color route is a high-temperature disperse process. What makes it different from a satin route is the target: the shade has to look deep and clear while the surface stays matte, not glossy. How the Process Works
Step 1 — High-temperature disperse fixation. Dye is fixed under a defined temperature curve so the shade builds evenly across the width and through the full thickness of the cloth.
Step 2 — Reduction and rinse without crushing the texture. Surface color is cleared gently so the yarn keeps its crinkle; an aggressive reduction flattens the crepe and the fabric stops reading as one.
Step 3 — Controlled tension through dyeing. The cloth is run under low tension so warp and weft shrink stay balanced and the panel does not distort.
Why This Matters On a textured matte cloth, defects are unusually visible. A flat, shiny patch or an uneven shade shows as soon as the garment is worn under light, and a distorted panel cannot be corrected at the sewing stage. Detecting both at dyeing is far cheaper than a rejected batch after cutting. 4. Finishing That Protects the Crepe SurfaceThe character of this fabric is easy to destroy with heat, so the finishing route is deliberately restrained. The aim is a soft, dry, matte handle rather than a smooth or glossy one. Texture Preserved, Not Flattened. Calendering and high-temperature finishing are kept light so the pebbled surface survives. Dry, Soft Hand Against Skin. The finish removes the papery feel of a light cloth without adding gloss. Even Shrinkage and Stable Width. Warp and weft are allowed to shrink in balance so the finished size stays predictable for a buyer ordering to pattern. Color Fastness Color fastness is an important consideration for a light fabric often washed at home. The actual grade should be confirmed through testing under the applicable standard and test conditions. Where supported by laboratory results, a grade of 4 or above can be specified in the product documentation. For bulk orders, we recommend confirming the required color fastness, shade tolerance, shrinkage expectation and width tolerance before production. Lab dip approval is carried out before bulk production. 5. Why Fabric Quality Matters to Garment ManufacturersLight crepes are frequently bought on the feel of a sample. But when the yarn and finishing routes are not controlled, the cost appears later in cutting and in wear. Potential consequences include:
At Henghui Textile, we believe reliable fabric quality begins with the making process, not with the final inspection alone. Our approach emphasises a controlled twist yarn package, a balanced shrink allowance and a restrained finishing route, communicated clearly with customers about the requirements of their intended applications. 6. Applications of Acetate-look CrepeWith a matte textured surface, a soft dry hand and a light breathable weight, this fabric can be considered for a range of dress and shirt applications, depending on its actual weight and finish. Potential applications include:
For buyers developing a new collection, the final suitability should be evaluated against the garment design, required drape, opacity, comfort and care instructions. Our team can work with buyers to confirm the relevant specifications and finishing requirements before bulk production. 7. Quality Begins with Process ControlAt Shaoxing Henghui Textile Co., Ltd., we understand that the difference between an acceptable crepe and a reliable production crepe often lies in details that are not immediately visible. Yarn twist, warp tension, dye recipe, reduction, setting temperature and handling all contribute to the final result. We do not run the same route on every fabric. An all-polyester crepe and a satin of the same weight are different constructions, because a crepe's character comes from the yarn while a satin's comes from the weave; treating them the same is what causes the flattening and shape problems described above.
