Composite Crepe Fabric
150 CM
DOUBLE-FACED DRAPE SATIN WEAVE
97% POLYESTER 3% SPANDEX
This woven composite crepe fabric is 97% polyester 3% spandex in an composite crepe double-faced satin construction. The dense, dry matte surface has a soft, smooth hand with a low-shine finish that stays cool and comfortable against the skin, and a fluid drape that moves without clinging
At 210 GSM this sits in the light-to-midweight range — light on the body with an easy, flowing drape and confident opacity, while the matte finish keeps it looking calm rather than shiny. It is a go-to fabric for modest fashion and dressmaking: flowing maxi dresses, abayas and kaftans, plus headscarves, hijabs, shawls and evening gowns — styles in steady demand across the Middle East, North Africa and Europe & America. The 150 cm width allows efficient marker making for long dress panels and generous scarf blanks alike Available in 43 in-stock dyed colors, with custom solid dyeing or printing in our 55-color morandi tone library or your own Pantone references.

Craft Differentiation: Elastane in Both Directions Changes EverythingTWO-WAY ELASTANE PACKAGE · STRETCH-SAFE SETTING
Why a 40D spandex filament carried in both warp and weft means the finishing route must protect the elastane as well as the crepe texture.
Two crepes at the same weight can behave completely differently once they are worn. The distinction that matters most here is not the surface but what sits inside the yarn. At 210 GSM this is a composite crepe in 97% polyester and 3% spandex, with a 40D spandex filament carried in both the warp and the weft. Because the elastane works in both directions, the cloth recovers along the length as well as across the width, which is exactly what a hijab, abaya or shawl needs after hours of wear. The surface itself is still created by the yarn: a textured filament shrinks unevenly after weaving and leaves the fine pebbled crinkle that buyers associate with a good crepe. Adding elastane changes what happens next, because there is now a heat-sensitive component that must survive dyeing and setting without losing either its stretch or its soft hand. At Shaoxing Henghui Textile Co., Ltd., we develop Composite Crepe around three points: a balanced two-way elastane package, a blend-matched dyeing route and a stretch-safe setting process. 1. Why Two Crepes of Similar Weight Behave DifferentlyAt this weight the fabric is judged on how it behaves over a full day, not on how it looks off the roll. Two crepes may feel similar at sampling and then separate in wear. Potential problems include:
For garment manufacturers these problems affect more than appearance. They increase inspection requirements, complicate cutting and create additional production cost. This is why quality should be judged not only by the hand at sample stage, but also by where the elastane is placed and how the finishing route treats it. 2. The Yarn Package and What the Elastane DoesThe construction pairs a textured polyester filament with a 40D spandex in both warp and weft. Holding that balance is what gives the cloth both its surface character and its recovery. Two-Way Recovery
Elastane in warp and weft means the fabric returns to shape along the length as well as across the width, so panels do not grow out of proportion.
Fine Pebbled Surface
The textured filament shrinks unevenly after weaving, leaving the matte crinkle that reads as an acetate-like handle rather than a printed imitation.
Body at 210 GSM
Enough weight to hang in a soft cascade on a gown or abaya, while the stretch keeps it from feeling heavy.
Soft Against Skin
A matte, low-lustre surface that sits comfortably against the face and arms under a hijab or open abaya.
3. Dyeing: A Blend Route, Not a Straight Polyester RouteBecause the cloth contains textured polyester and spandex, the dye recipe has to be developed for the blend rather than copied from a standard polyester process. The temperature curve is chosen so the elastane survives and the shade builds evenly. How the Process Works
Step 1 — Blend-matched fixation. The dye is fixed under a controlled temperature curve so the shade builds evenly through the textured filament and the elastane without either going dull or dulling the other.
Step 2 — Gentle reduction. Surface color is cleared carefully; an aggressive reduction flattens the pebbled face and dulls the hand.
Step 3 — Low-tension dyeing. A two-way stretch crepe is easily pulled out of shape, so tension is kept low to hold the width stable and prevent spiralling at cutting.
Why This Matters On a matte textured surface, defects are unusually visible. A flattened patch or a dull area shows as soon as the garment is worn under light, and a stretched panel cannot be corrected at the sewing stage. Detecting both at dyeing is far cheaper than a rejected batch after cutting. 4. Setting and Finishing for Recovery and TextureThe hand and the recovery of this fabric are set in finishing. Because there is elastane to protect, the setting temperature has to be balanced so neither the stretch nor the texture is lost. Recovery Kept on Both Axes. Setting is balanced against the elastane so the fabric returns to shape lengthwise and widthwise after wear. Texture Preserved, Not Flattened. Calendering and heat are kept light so the pebbled surface survives the process. Soft, Low-Lustre Hand. The finish avoids the high-gloss film that would make a matte crepe look synthetic. Color Fastness Color fastness is an important consideration for a fabric worn against the skin and often washed at home. The actual grade should be confirmed through testing under the applicable standard and test conditions. Where supported by laboratory results, a grade of 4 or above can be specified in the product documentation. For bulk orders, we recommend confirming the required color fastness, shade tolerance, shrinkage expectation and width tolerance before production. Lab dip approval is carried out before bulk production. 5. Why Fabric Quality Matters to Garment ManufacturersStretch crepes are commonly bought on drape and price. But when the elastane placement or the setting route is not controlled, the cost appears later in cutting and in wear. Potential consequences include:
At Henghui Textile, we believe reliable fabric quality begins with the making process, not with the final inspection alone. Our approach emphasises a balanced two-way elastane package, a blend-matched dyeing route and a stretch-safe finishing process, communicated clearly with customers about the requirements of their intended applications. 6. Applications of Composite CrepeWith a soft matte surface, two-way recovery and enough body to hang, this fabric can be considered for a range of modest and occasion applications, depending on its actual finish. Potential applications include:
For buyers developing a new collection, the final suitability should be evaluated against the garment design, required drape, opacity, comfort and care instructions. Our team can work with buyers to confirm the relevant specifications and finishing requirements before bulk production. 7. Quality Begins with Process ControlAt Shaoxing Henghui Textile Co., Ltd., we understand that the difference between an acceptable crepe and a reliable production crepe often lies in details that are not immediately visible. Yarn package, warp tension, dye recipe, setting temperature and handling all contribute to the final result. We do not run the same route on every fabric. A two-way elastane composite crepe at 210 GSM, a plain polyester crepe and a heavy stretch suiting are three different constructions and need three different set logics; treating them the same is what causes the recovery and texture problems described above.
