DOUBLE-FACED DRAPE SATIN WEAVE
100% POLYESTER
This woven Acetate-look satin fabric is 100% polyester in an sand-washed satin double-faced satin construction. The dense, dry matte surface has a soft, smooth hand with a low-shine finish that stays cool and comfortable against the skin, and a fluid drape that moves without clinging
At 137 GSM this sits in the light-to-midweight range — light on the body with an easy, flowing drape and confident opacity, while the matte finish keeps it looking calm rather than shiny. It is a go-to fabric for modest fashion and dressmaking: flowing maxi dresses, abayas and kaftans, plus headscarves, hijabs, shawls and evening gowns — styles in steady demand across the Middle East, North Africa and Europe & America. The 150 cm width allows efficient marker making for long dress panels and generous scarf blanks alike Available in 84 in-stock dyed colors, with custom solid dyeing or printing in our 55-color morandi tone library or your own Pantone references.

Craft Differentiation: Bright Warp, Dull WeftTWO-YARN LUSTRE BALANCE · SOFT-SHEEN FINISH
Why pairing a bright warp with a dull weft produces a sand-washed sheen that travels with the drape, instead of the fixed mirror gloss of a full-bright satin.
Most satins are bright in both warp and weft, and that is what gives them their familiar mirror shine. This fabric is built differently, and the difference is visible the moment the cloth is moved. At 137 GSM this is a 100% polyester Acetate-look satin in which the warp is a bright filament and the weft is a dull one. The bright warp floats on the face and carries the lustre; the dull weft sits beneath it and scatters light back up through the surface. The result is a soft, sand-washed sheen that travels with the drape rather than a fixed gloss. This is also why the cloth moves the way it does. A surface that reflects as one plane stays visually flat as the garment shifts. A surface built from a bright warp over a dull weft changes as the angle changes, so the fabric appears to shift tone as it falls. At Shaoxing Henghui Textile Co., Ltd., we develop Acetate-look Satin around three points: a stable bright-warp / dull-weft balance, a high-temperature disperse route that keeps both yarn types on shade and a finishing process tuned for a soft sheen rather than a gloss. 1. Why Two Polyester Satins Feel DifferentSatin is bought for its surface, so surface faults are the whole conversation. Potential problems include:
For garment manufacturers these problems affect more than appearance. They increase inspection requirements, complicate cutting and create additional production cost. This is why quality should be judged not only by the hand at sample stage, but also by how the two yarn types were balanced and dyed together. 2. What the Bright-Warp, Dull-Weft Pairing DoesBecause the character comes from how the two yarn systems interact, the construction is built around holding that relationship stable. The specification is 75D/48F bright FDY in the warp and 80D/48F dull SPH in the weft, and every other setting follows from keeping that pairing intact. Soft Sand-Washed Sheen
The bright warp over a dull weft scatters light instead of mirroring it, giving the soft lustre of an acetate rather than a hard shine.
Lustre That Travels
Because the effect is directional, the cloth appears to shift tone as it hangs, which reads as movement rather than a flat gloss.
Fluid at 137 GSM
A light weight that skims over the body and hangs in a clean line, comfortable in warm weather.
Smooth Skin-Facing Face
A fine, even surface with no slub or texture, which is what makes it read as an acetate replacement.
3. Dyeing: Two Yarn Systems, One ShadeThe cloth is all polyester, so color comes from a high-temperature disperse process. What makes it different is that a bright and a dull filament do not take dye identically, and the recipe has to bring both onto the same shade. How the Process Works
Step 1 — Balanced high-temperature fixation. The curve is set so the bright warp and the dull weft reach the same shade. A mismatch here is visible as a change of tone between the face and the reverse.
Step 2 — Careful reduction. Surface color is cleared gently so the bright warp keeps its lustre; over-reduction dulls the very yarn that gives the cloth its sheen.
Step 3 — Controlled handling. A very light and very smooth cloth is easily pulled out of shape, so tension is kept low and the width stable through dyeing.
Why This Matters On a surface this smooth, a shade difference is visible the moment the garment is worn under light, and it cannot be corrected at the sewing stage. A roll that is even on the face and off on the reverse is rejected at final inspection, so the balance has to be decided at the dyeing stage. 4. Finishing for a Soft SheenThe acetate character lives or dies in finishing. Too much heat turns the surface into a hard gloss and the fabric stops resembling what it was chosen for. Sheen, Not Gloss. Setting is controlled so the surface keeps a soft lustre and does not become a mirror finish. Drape and Flow Kept. At 137 GSM the finish avoids stiffness so the cloth falls rather than stands. Face and Reverse Consistent. Both sides are finished so the reverse of a garment reads as the same cloth as the face. Color Fastness Color fastness is an important consideration for a fabric worn against the skin and often washed at home. The actual grade should be confirmed through testing under the applicable standard and test conditions. Where supported by laboratory results, a grade of 4 or above can be specified in the product documentation. For bulk orders, we recommend confirming the required color fastness, shade tolerance, shrinkage expectation and width tolerance before production. Lab dip approval is carried out before bulk production. Because the fabric is dyed to order, the color reference should be confirmed against an approved lab dip rather than a screen image. 5. Why Fabric Quality Matters to Garment ManufacturersAcetate-look satins are often bought on the look of a sample. But when the yarn balance or finishing is not controlled, the cost appears later in cutting and in wear. Potential consequences include:
At Henghui Textile, we believe reliable fabric quality begins with the making process, not with the final inspection alone. Our approach emphasises a stable bright-warp and dull-weft balance, a dyeing route that brings both yarn systems onto one shade, and a finishing process tuned for a soft sheen, communicated clearly with customers about the requirements of their intended applications. 6. Applications of Acetate-look SatinWith a soft sheen, fluid fall and a smooth skin-facing surface at 137 GSM, this fabric can be considered for a range of modest and occasion applications, depending on its actual finish. Potential applications include:
For buyers developing a new collection, the final suitability should be evaluated against the garment design, required drape, opacity, comfort and care instructions. Our team can work with buyers to confirm the relevant specifications and finishing requirements before bulk production. 7. Quality Begins with Process ControlAt Shaoxing Henghui Textile Co., Ltd., we understand that the difference between an acceptable acetate-look satin and a reliable production satin often lies in details that are not immediately visible. Warp and weft lustre balance, warp tension, dye fixation on two yarn types, setting temperature and handling all contribute to the final result. We do not run the same route on every fabric. A bright-warp satin, a dull-weft satin, a full-bright double-faced satin and a matte cloth are different constructions and need different set logics; treating them the same is what causes the gloss and shade problems described above.
