Tencel Cotton 260 GSM
150 CM
65% TENCEL / 35% COTTON
Item 6012 is a woven tencel-rich cotton blend — 65% tencel / 35% cotton — in a twill weave with a soft, washed, vintage finish, at 260 GSM and 150 cm wide in solid dyed shades. The higher tencel content is deliberate: at 65%, the tencel leads the hand, so the cloth drapes with a fluid, silky movement that a cotton-heavy blend cannot match, while the 35% cotton keeps a soft, familiar warmth against the skin.
The washed finish does the rest of the work. A special dye-and-wash route gives the surface a gentle, lived-in character — the kind of quiet, considered texture that reads as garment-dyed rather than flat. The twill adds a subtle diagonal grain, and together the two give the cloth a soft drape that holds its shape without stiffness. It is specified for garments that need to feel soft and fluid yet still hold a clean, modern line.

Four properties decide how this cloth behaves in wear. Because tencel is the majority fibre, each one leans on the tencel first: the drape, the softness and the moisture behaviour are all tencel-led, while the cotton softens the hand and the washed finish gives the surface its character.
Where this weight sits. At 260 GSM the cloth is light enough to drape a pleated skirt or a shirt, yet substantial enough to hold a clean line in a trouser or a light jacket — the natural choice for dresses, shirts, skirts, trousers and soft tailoring. The honest trade-off is that the cotton content, while it adds softness and comfort, means the cloth will crease a little more readily than a synthetic blend — part of its natural, lived-in character.
This is 65% tencel and 35% cotton, and the tencel leads. It brings the silky, fluid drape and the cool, absorbent comfort of a regenerated cellulose, so the cloth falls with an easy, liquid line rather than clinging. The 35% cotton contributes softness and a familiar warmth, lifting the comfort so the fabric reads as natural and considered from morning to evening. The result is a cloth that drapes like a premium natural fibre and holds a soft, modern line.
The washed finish is the point of difference from a plain dyed cloth. A special dye-and-wash route gives the surface a soft, lived-in character — a quiet, garment-dyed texture that looks considered rather than flat. The hand is soft and supple, the surface smooth and clean with a gentle sheen, and the whole cloth carries the easy, relaxed feel of something already broken in.
The twill construction balances two qualities that usually pull apart. The tencel gives softness and drape, while the weave gives just enough body for the cloth to hold a clean, modern line — the kind of fabric that shapes a pleated skirt or a tailored trouser without going stiff. It is soft against the skin and structured off the body, which is exactly the balance a contemporary garment needs.
Tencel has a moisture regain well above cotton and pulls perspiration into the fibre before releasing it to the air, so the cloth reads cool and dry through a long day of wear. The cotton softens the touch, and together the two keep the fabric breathable, absorbent and comfortable against sensitive skin. It is the reason this construction is specified for garments worn directly against the body.
At 260 GSM and 150 cm this is a versatile mid-weight. The tencel drape carries pleated skirts, dresses and shirts, while the washed twill gives enough body for a trouser, a light jacket or a relaxed suit to hold an easy, modern line. It works across the seasons and into the transition.
This is the core use. The soft, fluid tencel drape means a bias-cut dress, a relaxed shirt or a pleated skirt falls rather than clings, and the washed finish gives the surface a considered, garment-dyed character. The cloth reads soft and natural through a full day rather than sagging by evening.
Off the body the same construction works as a trouser, a light jacket or a relaxed suit. At 260 GSM there is enough body to hold a clean line, while the washed twill and the tencel drape mean the cloth moves easily and relaxes on its own. It is the natural choice for contemporary tailoring that needs to feel soft, not stiff.
The color range is deliberately broad — a full 74 stocked shades running from naturals and whites through apricots, khakis, olives, greys, blues and deep coffee tones, held for immediate dispatch. Custom solid dyeing to Pantone TCX is available for development orders, and because the cloth is tencel-led it takes dye cleanly and evenly — one of the reasons this construction is used for color-critical work.
Hand samples and cutting samples are supplied before bulk production, either from stock greige or from a lab dip matched to your shade. For this construction we recommend sampling the finished cloth rather than the yarn alone: at 65% tencel / 35% cotton the hand, the drape and the washed character are all decided by the fibre and its finishing, and cannot be judged from a fibre sample.
Development runs around three points: the shade matched to Pantone TCX, the weight confirmed against the end use, and the finish route confirmed with the mill. The washed vintage finish is a defining feature here, and we test shrinkage and crease behaviour on a finished sample before bulk is scheduled. Full-width greige and finished samples, small trial orders and custom development are supported for new customers.
